Emerald Lake is the starting area of The Valhallas in Canada, available from the beginning. Two confirmed vehicle targets here are The Trail Burner, earned by completing Windy Joe Trail, and The Burro, earned by completing Hermit Trail. For a first focused trip, choose one of those trails rather than treating every marker as part of the same objective.
This guide covers the area’s confirmed activities and vehicle rewards. It does not provide a complete coordinate list, a turn-by-turn route through every trail, or guaranteed animal sightings.
Place Emerald Lake within Canada
The Valhallas contains Emerald Lake, Gimli Ridge and Asgard Mountain. Those names describe separate areas in the Canadian region. A region-wide view and an Emerald Lake view therefore cover different scopes: an activity shown elsewhere in Canada is not automatically an activity in Emerald Lake.

Terrain reference only; this image does not show live spawns.
Use the area name when choosing your destination. In particular, do not travel to Asgard Mountain for The Trail Burner: its named unlock trail is in Emerald Lake. Das Mammoth belongs to a different vehicle trip in Asgard Mountain.
The landscape includes forests, lakesides and mountain terrain. Exploration can lead to cabins, scenic viewpoints, natural landmarks, meteorites and portals. These are different goals. A scenic stop does not stand in for completing a Challenge Trail, and a vehicle unlock is attached to the named trail rather than to visiting the region generally.
Choose a vehicle unlock objective
| Vehicle | Required activity | Area |
|---|---|---|
| The Trail Burner | Complete Windy Joe Trail | Emerald Lake |
| The Burro | Complete Hermit Trail | Emerald Lake |
The wording of each condition matters: complete the trail. Reaching its general location or finding the vehicle’s name on a list is not the completion condition. Challenge Trails use checkpoints, so focus on the trail’s objective as you drive.
Before starting, consider whether your current vehicle can manage the route you are attempting. Low Range is useful when the vehicle struggles on rough ground or slopes; High Range is intended for quicker travel on regular ground. There is no verified minimum upgrade level or mandatory vehicle build for these two unlocks here.
If you are playing cooperatively, each player must reach an objective’s checkpoint personally. Helping a friend through the route is useful, but one driver crossing a checkpoint does not automatically complete it for the whole group.
Other named objectives and the next area
| Objective | Type | Listed reward or result |
|---|---|---|
| Elizabeth Oath Trail | Challenge Trail | 15 Pebbles, Kayaks and Kayaks (Bed) |
| Elizabeth Lake Recovery | Item recovery | 25 Pebbles, Canoe and Canoe (Bed) |
| Clark Watchtower | Scenic point | 15 Pebbles |
| Harrison Watchtower | Scenic point | 15 Pebbles |
| Ferry to the Ridge | Portal | Opens Gimli Ridge |
The ferry is the onward area connection. Completing a vehicle challenge and opening the next area are separate goals; Windy Joe Trail rewards The Trail Burner, while reaching Ferry to the Ridge opens Gimli Ridge.
Track the Emerald Lake crate rewards
Each of the 18 listed crates gives 5 Pebbles plus its appearance reward. Use the reward names to identify missing items; this table does not supply individual coordinates.
| Crate reward | Additional version from the same crate |
|---|---|
| Beacons - Amber | — |
| Bike Horn | — |
| Bull Bar Type 1 - Black | — |
| Bull Horns | — |
| Camping Gear | Camping Gear (Bed) |
| Festive Lights | Festive Lights (Rear bumper) |
| Hood-Mounted Spare Wheel | — |
| Jerry Cans | — |
| Ladder | — |
| Plane Antenna | — |
| Sasquatch Antenna | — |
| Side Steps - Black | — |
| Squeaky Horn | — |
| Surfboards | Surfboards (Bed) |
| Trailblazer Spare Wheel | — |
| Train Horn | — |
| Wolf Horn | — |
| Wreath | — |
A mounting variant from one crate does not mean there is a second crate to find.
Find a practical return point
Discovered cabins are useful recovery and respawn destinations. When a vehicle is stuck and the available tools cannot resolve it, open the map and choose a discovered cabin. That gives you a practical fallback while exploring the area.
Do not plan a route around a cabin you have not discovered. The recovery instructions depend on choosing an already discovered location. When you encounter a cabin during a trip, remember its name and position relative to your next objective so that a later recovery does not leave you uncertain about where to continue.
Camping is a separate action. If the game reports that the ground is unsuitable, move to a flatter place with fewer obstacles. The six named cabins are Birch Grove Hut, Black Bear’s Den, Brew Hut, Elizabeth Lake Cabin, Malachite Lodge and Pavilion Lake Cabin. Each is listed with a 10-Pebble discovery reward. The local Mechanic is Crazy Günther. No cabin coordinates or campsite upgrade path are established by this page.
Search for meteorites without assuming fixed loot
Emerald Lake has 34 meteorite spawn points. A spawn point is a possible landing place, not a promise that a meteorite will be waiting there every time you arrive. The October 16 update adjusted meteorite spawning, so older searches may lead you to an empty place.
At night, a meteorite’s glow can make it easier to notice. The Meteorite Radar helps locate a fallen meteorite, while extraction uses a winch. The required number of players depends on the meteorite’s size. Solo play can handle Very Small, Small and Medium meteorites; larger sizes require help.
The basic search decision is therefore to look for a currently fallen meteorite, not simply to visit every possible point expecting an immediate reward. A static terrain image is useful for orientation, but it cannot show which meteorite is currently active in your session.
Photograph wildlife correctly
Use the Safari Camera for wildlife entries. A valid photograph needs the animal centered, at a suitable distance, and unobstructed. If a photograph does not register, check the framing before assuming the animal is the wrong target.
Animal sightings can depend on time of day and weather. This guide does not assign species-specific Emerald Lake hours or weather conditions. It also does not label every spawn point as a guaranteed encounter.
Open the Compendium to check the photographs you have already recorded. Completing a region’s wildlife compendium unlocks the Naturalist achievement, with no separate Pebbles or item reward. Keep the area and region distinction in mind when reviewing progress: completing one trip around Emerald Lake is not proof that the whole Canadian collection is complete.
Keep the trip focused
For a vehicle trip, finish the named trail and check the unlock result. For wildlife, check the Compendium entry after taking the photograph. For meteorites, find an active fall and use enough players for its size. For general exploration, use discovered cabins as return points.
These outcomes provide a clearer stopping point than driving until the whole map appears busy with markers. Exact trail entrances, individual animal coordinates and a complete collectible route remain unconfirmed here.
