Meteorite Extraction Guide

Quick Answer

Attach a winch and pull a fallen meteorite. Small sizes need one player, while larger sizes need up to four. Helpers share the Pebbles reward rather than each receiving the full value.

To extract an Over the Hill meteorite, attach a winch and pull it out of the ground. Very Small, Small and Medium meteorites need one player; larger sizes need two to four. Bring the required crew before trying to recover a meteorite that your current group cannot extract.

The Meteorite Radar points toward the closest fallen meteorite on the compass. At night, meteorites also glow. The October 16 patch adjusted their spawn locations, so a remembered location from an older session is not a guarantee of finding one now.

Match the meteorite size to your group

Meteorite sizeTotal Pebbles valuePlayers needed to extract
Very Small151
Small201
Medium301
Large402
Very Large502
Huge603
Very Huge804

The value in the table is the meteorite’s reward pool. It is not a promise that every participant receives that entire amount. The reward is divided between helpers and rounded up for each share.

A larger meteorite therefore has two distinct numbers to check: how many people are required to pull it free, and how many helpers share the reward. Do not compare a solo meteorite’s payout to a large group meteorite by looking only at the total value.

Locate a fallen meteorite

The Meteorite Radar tracks the nearest meteorite that has already fallen. Use that information to guide the search, and look for a glow when driving at night. Keep your headlights on as well; spotting a resource does not remove the need to read the terrain on the way there.

Meteorites use possible landing sites across the five areas, but their active positions change. Each current area holds two to three meteorites at a time. When an area loads, its starting meteorites are already on the ground. A replacement chooses a free point and falls after a delay of one to five minutes. Exact current spawn-point totals are not confirmed here.

That means an empty point does not prove the system has stopped working. You may be at an unused spawn, or a replacement may not have fallen yet. The radar and visible glow are more direct signs of an active target than a static terrain image.

Keep possible landing sites separate from active falls

The available counts describe possible positions, not meteorites available simultaneously. Asgard Mountain’s exact current total is not established here, so the table cannot be summed into a reliable game-wide total. None of these entries is an ordered collection route.

Terrain reference only; no exact trail entrance or live resource position is marked.

A terrain view can help you recognize the area you are exploring, but it does not mark a currently fallen meteorite. Avoid treating every possible spot as an always-present collectible. The reward depends on finding and extracting an actual meteorite.

Attach and tension the winch

  1. Find the fallen meteorite and identify its size.
  2. Check that enough players are available for that size.
  3. Select a winch attachment point on your vehicle, then select the meteorite as the object to attach to.
  4. Pull until the ropes are under tension.
  5. When several ropes are attached, keep their pulling directions within the allowed alignment: no two may pull more than 120 degrees apart.

The tension and alignment requirements are important when the group appears to have enough players but extraction still does not happen. A rope that is merely attached is not the same as a rope actively under tension. Drivers pulling against one another can also fail the angle requirement.

No universal keyboard or controller button is given here. Use your current control bindings and the game’s attachment prompts rather than assuming a key listed for a different layout applies to you.

Understand the shared reward

A player counts as a helper by having a winch attached or by standing within 10 metres. The meteorite’s Pebbles value is divided by the number of helpers, with the result rounded up.

For example, a Large meteorite has a value of 40 Pebbles and needs two players to extract. With two helpers, the split is 20 each. The size requirement and the reward-sharing rule are separate: adding more nearby helpers changes the division even though the meteorite’s base value stays the same.

Coordinate the recovery before pulling so that everyone understands whether they are participating. This prevents confusing the total listed value with the amount a particular player expects to see after extraction.

Read the session-size chances correctly

Each new meteorite rolls its size according to the number of players in the session.

Session players41% chance35% chance24% chance
1Very SmallSmallMedium
2MediumLargeVery Large
3LargeVery LargeHuge
4Very LargeHugeVery Huge

The table is a size distribution for a new spawn. It is not a timer, a guaranteed sequence, or a reason to expect the next meteorite to be larger than the last. A four-player session still needs to find its active meteorites and meet each extraction requirement.

Diagnose an extraction that does not move

Check the meteorite size first, then the crew count, then rope tension and pulling alignment. Those are directly relevant to extraction. If the target is no longer present, use the radar to search for a currently fallen meteorite instead of continuing to pull at an empty spawn location.

Do not assume buying more engine power changes a meteorite’s stated player requirement. The requirements here are expressed as players per size, and no upgrade-based exception is established. Likewise, a Winch upgrade is described as increasing range; this page does not claim it replaces another required helper.

After a successful pull, interpret your Pebbles gain using the number of helpers. A divided reward can be expected behavior. Repeated Challenge Trails and Recovery Missions also became repeatable Pebbles sources with the October 16 update, but their routes and farming comparisons belong to a separate currency plan.
