For Over the Hill all animal locations, start by separating possible spawn locations from animals currently visible in your session. Sightings can depend on weather and time of day, and photographing an animal requires a centered, unobstructed subject at a suitable distance.
A complete set of species coordinates for all five areas is not confirmed here. The checklist below assigns named wildlife search targets to areas across Canada and Algeria, alongside local candidate markers for Coyote and Red Fox. It does not establish a current species total or a finished all-animal route.
Choose an area for the missing species
Use the exact species name in your Compendium to select an area below. The rows are documented search targets, not a declaration of the current global species total. The reward column is for the first photograph of that species, not repeated pictures.

These are area assignments, not individual spawn coordinates. Multiple areas in a row give alternatives; they do not require photographing the species once in every listed area.

Area orientation only; animal spawn coordinates are not marked.
Use the area name as the first location filter. A species listed for Asgard Mountain is a reason to search that area; it is not evidence for an Emerald Lake coordinate or an Algeria route. This distinction is especially useful when your last missing animal is being described by a region name rather than an area name.
Identify the target before taking the photograph

The Red Fox is one of the listed Asgard Mountain search targets. Search forest or clearing habitat in dry weather, during either daytime or night. These conditions narrow the search but do not guarantee a fox at a particular point.

The Beaver is another listed search target in the same area. Use the species appearance to decide what to frame, then let the Compendium confirm whether your photograph registered. A picture of a similar-looking animal is not a substitute for the missing entry.
Emerald Lake leads for Coyote and Red Fox
The Emerald Lake map listing supplies another search lead: four Coyote candidate markers and fifteen Red Fox candidate markers. These numbers describe possible places to investigate in that listing. They do not mean that four Coyotes or fifteen foxes are present together, and they do not guarantee a sighting.
| Search target | Area lead | Candidate markers in the listing |
|---|---|---|
| Coyote | Emerald Lake | 4 |
| Red Fox | Emerald Lake | 15 |
Individual coordinates and a tested route are not established here. Red Fox has dry-weather, forest/clearing search conditions; Coyote-specific hours and weather remain unconfirmed. Use Emerald Lake to narrow the search, then confirm any successful photograph in the Compendium. The unmarked Asgard Mountain image above does not identify these Emerald Lake positions.
Register a valid wildlife photograph
- Open the Safari Camera from the radial menu.
- Place the intended animal in the center of the frame.
- Adjust your distance so the subject is neither too close nor too far away.
- Make sure another object is not obscuring the animal.
- Take the photograph and check the Compendium entry.
The Compendium records the wildlife photographs collected during your adventures. Check it after an uncertain shot instead of relying only on having seen the animal. A sighting and a registered photograph are different stages of the collection task.
If the picture fails, first change the framing. Centering, distance and obstruction are the established photograph checks. The Safari Camera detects animals up to 100 metres away. That is a detection limit, not a guarantee that every photograph taken inside that distance will register.
Approach without startling land animals
Land animals notice a vehicle within 15 metres. The horn alerts animals on the ground within 30 metres; that horn rule does not include flying birds or fish. Avoid driving straight into the subject or sounding the horn while framing a nearby land animal. These awareness distances do not establish a guaranteed escape timer or a required photographing distance.
Organize an incomplete collection
Write down the exact species names still missing in the Compendium. Then separate targets with a confirmed area from targets whose area is not established here. Search the confirmed area first, using the relevant species appearance rather than repeatedly photographing animals whose entries are already complete.
Weather and time can affect sightings. A single empty visit does not prove that an animal has been removed or that your progress is broken. Equally, there is no confirmed reset sequence here that guarantees a missing animal will appear. Avoid spending time following an exact hour, weather preset or cabin loop unless the game itself supplies that condition.
Completing a region’s wildlife compendium unlocks the Naturalist achievement. It gives no separate Pebbles or item reward. The listed Asgard Mountain entries therefore cannot be treated as proof of completing the entire Canadian region.
Limits of the all-location checklist
The five release areas are Emerald Lake, Gimli Ridge, Asgard Mountain, Tassili n’Ajjer Desert and Aurès Mountains. The table supplies area leads for the listed species, while exact per-species coordinates and a verified complete current roster remain unavailable.
For the listed Asgard Mountain search targets, the useful outcome is a valid Compendium photograph. A map spawn count can narrow your understanding of the area, but without individual pins it cannot provide a turn-by-turn route. Exact coordinates, conditions for species other than those explicitly covered, and a verified complete current roster remain unconfirmed.
