Over the Hill Gimli Ridge Map

Quick Answer

Gimli Ridge has nine cabins, 16 crates, eight scenic points, five trails, and two recovery jobs. It connects Emerald Lake with Asgard Mountain; individual collectible coordinates are not verified here.

Gimli Ridge is the Canadian area between Emerald Lake and Asgard Mountain. Its map contains nine cabins, 16 crates, eight scenic points, five challenge trails, and two item recovery jobs. The Blast Wagon is the reward for Windcall Gorge Trail here. The map below shows the area's terrain; it is not an annotated route or a verified set of collectible coordinates.

Recognize the area before planning a route

Unannotated Gimli Ridge terrain map

Gimli Ridge terrain reference without collectible or checkpoint markers.

The area's listed locations span 23 m to 504 m elevation. That range describes locations distributed around the map, not the amount of climbing in every challenge. Mímisbrunnr Lake Overlook is the highest listed scenic point at 441 m. The Mechanic is listed at 34 m.

Use those names to distinguish a broad exploration goal from a specific trail reward. Reaching the highest lookout will not unlock a car whose condition is completing a different challenge. Likewise, discovering a cabin near a route does not finish the challenge itself.

Connections to the other Canadian areas

Exit nameDestination
Tunnel to Asgard MountainAsgard Mountain
Ferry to the MountainEmerald Lake

The ferry name is easy to misread. Its destination is Emerald Lake; the tunnel is the connection to Asgard Mountain. Check the destination before using the transition if you are trying to reach a particular vehicle or return to unfinished objectives.

Travelling between areas changes the time of day and weather. Return with the expectation that visibility and driving conditions may differ from the previous visit, even though the map itself has not been randomly regenerated.

All five Gimli Ridge challenge trails

TrailFirst-completion reward
Fraser Research BoardwalkBoat
Windcall Gorge TrailThe Blast Wagon
Elvis Rim TrailThe Polyana
Bridal Veil Falls ClimbThe Brick
Waddington Scree TrailDas Rust Ox

Fraser Research Boardwalk gives a cosmetic reward rather than a vehicle. The other four trails account for the area's vehicle unlocks. If you are checking a garage rather than a map completion counter, identify which of those four cars is still missing and target the matching trail.

Windcall Gorge Trail

Windcall Gorge Trail has 20 checkpoints and awards 25 Pebbles plus The Blast Wagon on first completion. Its checkpoint-to-checkpoint route is about 820 m, with approximately 40 m of ascent and 20 m of descent. The finish is 478 m from the start in a straight line, which is shorter than the full checkpoint route.

The trail resets when you are more than 100 m from every checkpoint. Follow the marked route instead of steering directly at the finish. The terrain map above does not display the individual checkpoint positions, so use the in-game markers to drive the actual challenge.

Nine cabins to record

  • Nerthus Cabin
  • Seer Lodge
  • Mount Gibson Lodge
  • Secluded Marsh Bunkie
  • Powder Creek Lodge
  • Sunset Landing Cabin
  • Lake View Cabin
  • Valkyr Lodge
  • Whitecap Alpine Lodge

Cabins are visible on the in-game map and are useful starting points for local searches. First discovery pays 10 Pebbles and clears fog within 400 m. They also repair your vehicle and replenish tool slots. Visit a nearby cabin before attempting a route when you need to restore the car or replace used tools.

The names above are a checklist, not an ordered driving route. Without verified coordinates, presenting them as a clockwise loop would give a false impression of efficiency.

Recovery jobs and their rewards

RecoveryCosmetic reward
Nerthus Marsh RecoveryFerry Horn
Glasir Wood RecoveryExpedition Tent and Expedition Tent (Bed)

Both recovery jobs award 25 Pebbles. Recovery jobs involve towing a wreck to the designated drop-off. They are separate from challenge trails, which use checkpoints. Completing a vehicle unlock trail therefore does not replace either recovery job when checking all of Gimli Ridge's activities.

Crates, viewpoints, and wildlife

There are 16 crates and eight scenic points in the area. Crates give five Pebbles and a cosmetic, while scenic points give 15 Pebbles. Both can remain concealed by fog until you drive within 200 m, so a map that looks sparse early on is not evidence of an empty region.

Gimli Ridge also has possible wildlife spawn locations. Mule Deer, Mountain Goat, and Common Raven have many listed spawn points; Black Bear and Grizzly Bear are rarer search targets. A spawn marker does not guarantee a live animal at that position, so keep photography progress separate from the fixed-place checklist.

Gimli Ridge crate rewards

Every row below is one crate awarding five Pebbles and the named cosmetic. Mountain Rescue also gives a pickup-bed variant, but that still counts as one crate. These names identify rewards; they are not coordinates or an ordered driving loop.

Named scenic points

The eight scenic discoveries are Beatrice Ridge, Clark Watchtower, Fisherman's Cove, Lucy Chapman Lake View, Mímisbrunnr Lake Overlook, Mount Robinson Viewpoint, Murray Peak, and Nerthus Observation Tower. Each pays 15 Pebbles. Keep this list separate from the nine cabins and five trails when checking what remains unfinished.

A practical order for a targeted visit

  1. Confirm whether you need a car, a recovery reward, a crate, or a scenic discovery.
  2. Locate a useful cabin and restore your vehicle and tools.
  3. Select the exact named activity rather than searching the whole area without a target.
  4. Follow checkpoint markers during a trail and stay close enough to avoid abandonment.
  5. Record the reward after completion before moving on to another activity type.

Exact directions for all 16 crates and all eight viewpoints are not verified here. Use this page to choose the correct area, identify named goals, and check category totals; it cannot resolve an individual missing collectible from its description alone.
