Find Fox and Coyote

Quick Answer

Search dry forest or clearings in Emerald Lake or Asgard Mountain for Red Fox, during day or night. Coyote is listed in Emerald Lake and Gimli Ridge. These area leads do not guarantee a sighting.

Start the Coyote search in Emerald Lake. Its map listing includes four candidate Coyote markers and fifteen candidate Red Fox markers. Red Fox is also listed in Asgard Mountain, with eleven candidate points. These are regional search leads, not a fixed number of animals waiting at each location.

Red Fox is listed in forest or clearing habitat during dry weather, in daytime or at night. Exact coordinates, a tested driving route and Coyote-specific hours or weather requirements remain unconfirmed. Use the Safari Camera to register a photograph, then check the Compendium instead of counting a sighting alone as completion.

Search Emerald Lake for either animal

Use Emerald Lake as the area to investigate when you need the Coyote or want to look for both animals during one trip. The listing does not provide a route between those candidate points here. It also does not establish how many animals are active at the same time.

Four markers do not promise four Coyotes, and fifteen fox markers do not promise fifteen foxes. An empty visit does not prove that the species has been removed. Animal sightings can depend on time and weather. Use the Red Fox conditions below for that target; do not assume that the same conditions have been established for Coyote. Coyote is also listed in Gimli Ridge, giving you another area lead when the Emerald Lake search is unsuccessful.

Use Asgard Mountain as another Red Fox lead

Asgard Mountain is the third area of The Valhallas in Canada. It is opened through the Tunnel to Asgard Mountain portal in Gimli Ridge. Red Fox is listed as Common there, with eleven candidate points. This identifies another area to search, not a specific fox coordinate.

Asgard Mountain terrain map

Area orientation only; the image does not mark fox positions or the Emerald Lake Coyote leads.

Do not use this unmarked terrain image as a pin map. It shows Asgard Mountain rather than Emerald Lake. Keep your chosen area and target together when planning the search so that a regional lead does not become an assumed coordinate in a different area.

Narrow the fox search by habitat and weather

Red Fox is listed for forest and clearing habitat, dry weather, and both daytime and night. You do not need to restrict the search to an invented dawn-only window. These conditions are search filters, not a guarantee that a particular candidate point will be occupied.

The first valid Red Fox photograph gives 10 Pebbles; Coyote’s listed first-photo reward is 20. Repeated photographs are not established as another reward source.

Identify the Red Fox

Red Fox wildlife model

Use the animal’s appearance to decide what to frame, and use the Compendium result to confirm that the intended entry registered. A sighting of another canine is not proof that the Red Fox entry is complete. The fox illustration does not show a Coyote.

Gray Wolf is a separate listed Asgard Mountain search target. Do not rename it as a Coyote or assume that different canines satisfy the same wildlife entry. Keep the exact species name from your missing Compendium entry when checking a photograph.

Take a photograph that can register

  1. Open the Safari Camera.
  2. Place the intended animal in the center of the frame.
  3. Move to a suitable distance: neither too near nor too far.
  4. Make sure terrain, vegetation or another object is not obscuring the animal.
  5. Take the picture and inspect the Compendium entry.

If the photograph does not register, adjust the framing first. The confirmed camera checks are centering, distance and a clear subject. The Safari Camera detects animals up to 100 metres away. Detection is not a guarantee that every shot inside that range will register: the subject still needs suitable framing and a clear view.

Checking the Compendium immediately is useful when several animals are nearby. It distinguishes seeing an animal from completing its photograph and prevents leaving the area with the entry still unfinished.

Avoid disturbing a nearby land animal

Land animals notice vehicles within 15 metres, and the horn alerts ground animals within 30 metres. Avoid driving directly up to the subject or honking while trying to frame it. These distances describe awareness, not a required camera distance or a guaranteed time before the animal moves.

Keep regional leads separate from a guaranteed route

Use Emerald Lake as the shared search lead for Coyote and Red Fox, or Asgard Mountain as another listed Red Fox area. Coyote has an additional Gimli Ridge lead. This page does not give per-point coordinates, a repeatable reset sequence or a guaranteed appearance schedule for either species.

Do not substitute a real-world habitat guess for an in-game route. Another hunting game’s callers, scent system, need zones and weapon advice are not established Over the Hill mechanics. The supported task here is wildlife photography with the Safari Camera.
