Unlock The Marshal

Quick Answer

Complete Shabah Ascent in Tassili n’Ajjer Desert to unlock The Marshal. It is a Challenge Trail reward, not a Pebbles purchase. Each co-op player must complete their own checkpoints.

Complete Shabah Ascent in Tassili n'Ajjer Desert to unlock The Marshal. This is a Challenge Trail reward in Algeria, not a vehicle purchased with Pebbles. The trail also lists a 40-Pebble reward.

The exact trail name is the key detail. Reaching the desert, finding a different ascent, or completing a similarly named objective does not substitute for Shabah Ascent. This page identifies the correct unlock and vehicle, but it does not provide verified checkpoint coordinates or a turn-by-turn driving line through that trail.

Identify The Marshal

The Marshal is a cab-over Expedition vehicle with large work tires. Its appearance puts the cab above the front wheels, which helps distinguish it from other boxy vehicles in the garage.

Do not confuse it with Das Mammoth. Both are Expedition vehicles, but Das Mammoth belongs to Lower Midgar Trail in Asgard Mountain. A trip to the Canadian mountain area will not complete The Marshal's required trail.

Complete the trail on your own progress

  1. Travel to Tassili n'Ajjer Desert.
  2. Find the objective named Shabah Ascent.
  3. Start and complete its Challenge Trail, following the checkpoints through to completion.
  4. Check that The Marshal is available in your garage before marking the unlock finished.

Multiplayer progress is individual. Friends can help you through difficult terrain, but each player must reach the checkpoints themselves. If a friend has received The Marshal and you have not, confirm your own trail completion rather than assuming the garage reward is automatically shared with everyone in the session.

A missing precise route is not a reason to substitute directions for another ascent. Work from the named objective in the correct area, and use the map to plan an approach from a discovered cabin.

Plan for its size and steering

The Marshal weighs 3,200 kg and has a maximum steering angle of 28 degrees. Its wheel radius is 0.52 m, suspension travel is 70 cm, and its gearbox has two forward gears. These describe the vehicle you are unlocking; they do not prove that it will be the easiest car for every narrow route.

It has no cargo bed, and the listed winch pull is 51,000 N. That winch figure describes the vehicle specification; it is not a promise that any recovery angle will work or that a range upgrade increases pull strength.

Its large wheels and suspension are useful reasons to inspect it for rough terrain. The steering figure is also a reason to leave room for turns. Compared with a lighter vehicle that can steer more tightly, the same approach may need more space.

Read engine figures at the correct upgrade stage

Engine stagePeak torqueListed speed limit
Stage 1200 Nm19.8 km/h
Stage 2227 NmNot established here
Stage 3256 Nm27 km/h

These are listed speed limits rather than measured cross-country speeds; actual travel over an obstacle is not established by the limit alone.

The often quoted 256 Nm figure is Stage 3. A newly unlocked Marshal should not be evaluated as though the final engine upgrade is already fitted.

Engine Stage 2 costs 25 Pebbles; Stage 3 costs another 50 and requires Stage 2 on this vehicle. The two paid engine stages total 75 Pebbles. Other cars' upgrades do not transfer, so keep a separate budget if you want to improve The Marshal immediately after unlocking it.

Test the stock vehicle first and choose the improvement that addresses the obstacle you actually encounter. Tires increase grip, Suspension increases height, and a winch upgrade increases range. Unlocking an Expedition vehicle does not remove the need to use Low Range, choose a route, and carry recovery tools.
